Line Art: A Peak Through The Curtain

A collection of line-work meant to offer a peek through the curtain into my sketching style, process & way of life. Each gives way to a feeling of opposition and contrasting forces. A mental landscape captured on the page reflects rumination and plenty. On the other hand, surrounding the gravity of the space is solemness, a sense of something lacking which gives further complexity to both the landscape and subject matter. Fullness and emptiness are represented by a lack of color and density. Falling, waiting, watching like a scenic view you’re just passing by there is a way we fall through the cracks within our own experiences in life, where we fail to connect. Cluttered yet smoothed, there is a polish evident in the line quality and quantity used that makes the work feel disguised. Using disguise in the realm of life, there is so much happening it is hard to be seen, it is hard to not fall, it is easy to watch and it is even easier to hide. Like watching a sinking ship, there is an inevitability in the way the grandness of the universe makes us complacent to the smallness we feel inside, so much so we add, trying to create a fullness that mirrors a landscape we wish we were better apart of.
